We have just promoted our new search system to the top left of every Kamusi page. We have been testing the new system for several weeks, and hope that we have managed to fix all the bugs. If not, please let us know!
What are the differences between the new search and the "classic" search? Our hope is that you will not notice any differences at the outset. (For techies, the old search was written in Perl, which we need to retire in order to make our entire site consistent within a Drupal/ PHP environment.) The initial goal is to have the new search, written in a new programming language, produce exactly the same results for the user.

Over time, however, the new search will be essential to our ability to improve the services we offer at Kamusi.org. Once we are sure that we haven't lost anything from the old system, we will start making little changes to the way we present data. These changes will give you much more control over the dictionary results that you see. For example, you will be able to hide data fields that you don't want to see (e.g., some people do not need detailed derivation information), and you will be able to restrict your searches to particular terminology sets.In the future, the new search will be the key to the multilingual dictionaries that we are in the process of developing. I'll write more about those dictionaries at the appropriate time.
Meanwhile, if you come across any problems or bugs with the new search, please let us know as soon as possible. Send an email to shida , using our old kamusiproject dot org domain name (we will have the new kamusi.org email addresses set up next week).
Happy searching!
