Dr. Ann Biersteker (ann.biersteker_at_yale.edu) is Associate Chair of the Council on African Studies and Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies in African Studies. Her primary research interests are poetry in Kiswahili and Gikuyu literature. She is the author/ editor of Masomo ya Kisasa: Contemporary Readings in Swahili, from which we drew much of the initial vocabulary for the Kamusi Project.
Dr. Biersteker served as the supervising editor and project PI from the beginning of the project until October 2007. She continues to serve the project as a linguistic consultant.
